Frigidaire Professional appliances are the company’s premium line, with a higher price tag than the Frigidaire and Gallery models. So, if you’re looking for a Frigidaire Professional dishwasher, you probably have a budget of more than $1000. However, there’s only one Frigidaire Professional dishwasher model, which I’ll focus on in this Frigidaire Professional dishwasher review and guide.
I’ve written dozens of articles on dishwashers and have done a lot of research on the best dishwashers and what to consider when buying one. So, I can tell you for a fact that the Frigidaire Professional dishwasher is certainly one to strongly consider because of its build quality, performance, and elegant finish.
In this article, I’ve taken an in-depth look at the design, features, and performance of the Frigidaire Professional 24” built-in dishwasher to help you decide whether it’s the right model for your needs.
Bottom Line Up Front
The Frigidaire Professional dishwasher is a sleek-looking dishwasher with features like OrbitClean Wash System that boost its washing performance. If you have a budget of about $1000 and are looking for a reliable dishwasher, then this Frigidaire Professional model is worth considering.
Frigidaire Professional Dishwasher Main Features
Specifications
- 24-inch width
- 36-inch height
- 24-inch depth
- 47 dBA sound level
- Three rack levels
- 14 place settings
- seven wash cycles
- Stainless steel finish
Design
All Frigidaire Professional appliances have a stainless steel finish, which is considered a ‘professional’ look, as the name suggests. I love the dishwasher’s clean front with just a handle. There’s no indicator light or display on the door; the display and controls are hidden on the top edge of the door. You’ll need to be right in front of the dishwasher to access the control or see how much time is left on the cycle. This might be a con for those who want to keep tabs on the dishwasher from afar without walking to the dishwasher each time.
However, there’s a floor beam that acts as the indicator. You’ll notice a blue spotlight when the dishwasher is running and a green light when the cycle has ended. Unfortunately, it might be difficult to notice these floor beams when the kitchen is bright, so this feature is only useful in dark conditions.
The exterior has what Frigidaire calls Smudge-Proof stainless steel; this is the company’s branding for its fingerprint-resistant finish.
Place Settings & Organization
Inside the stainless steel tub, there are three racks. Yes, there’s a third-level rack, but it can only hold flatware. Organizing dishes in the dishwasher is easy, thanks to the adjustable tines in the bottom two racks. The middle rack is also adjustable, allowing you to create more room for placing large pots and pans in the lower rack.
There’s a removable silverware basket in the bottom rack, holders for wine glasses, and a cup shelf. I especially love that I can load silverware and then insert the basket; this is much easier than doing it within the dishwasher.
In total, the Frigidaire Professional dishwasher can hold 14 place settings, which is standard for Frigidaire’s 24-inch dishwashers. I love the Precision Pro Wash Zones, which are specific spots for placing items like bottles and jars. More on this a little later.
Cleaning Cycles & Options
There are seven dishwasher cycles and five cleaning/drying options. You’ll probably mainly use the Normal cycle on a regular day as this is ideal for most cleaning situations. There’s also a 30-minute wash for small or lightly soiled loads.
This cycle, together with Crystal, and Energy Saver, come with Air Dry as default, but you can deactivate it to use vented drying. Incidentally, Air Dry is also available in the Heavy and Normal cycles. For heavily soiled dishes, there’s a Scour option, which uses high water pressure to clean the dishes more effectively. This option is best used with the Heavy cycle, but it’s also available with the 30-minute wash cycle.
There’s also a Sanitize option that rinses the dishes for 9 minutes using hot water. Sadly, you can only use this option in the Normal and Heavy cycles. I would have loved to have this in the 30-minute wash as well to quickly sanitize dishes.
A feature I love is the My Favorite Cycle. This allows you to save the cycle and options you mostly use so that you don’t have to select the cycle and wash options each time you load the dishwasher. The longest wash cycles are Heavy and Normal, and they last from 2 hours to 3 hours and 15 minutes.
Energy Efficiency
The Frigidaire Professional dishwasher is Energy Star certified, and it’s rated CEE Tier one. CEE is the Consortium for Energy Efficiency, an organization that rates appliances in tiers based on how energy efficient they are. Tier 0 is the lowest, and the Advanced tier is the highest.
Technical speak aside, these certifications simply mean that the dishwasher is considered to be among the top 25% energy-efficient appliances. According to the Energy Guide label, you should spend about $31 annually on electricity to operate the dishwasher.
Washing and Drying Performance
There are three spray arms, one for each rack. The bottom spray arm has Frigidaire’s OrbitClean Wash System. This system has a blue wheel that sprays water, and it’s attached to an arm that rotates. While the arm rotates, the wheel also spins, allowing the jets of water to cover a larger area of the tub.
The OrbitClean Wash System works in collaboration with the middle and upper spray arms to ensure that every dish is reached by water and detergent. As a result, all dishes come out clean, as owners of the dishwasher attest.
Even narrow items like bottles and jars have their dedicated spots called the PrecisionPro Wash Zones. These have clips that hold the bottles in place and spouts that shoot water into the items to clean the hard-to-reach spots.
My verdict is that the Frigidaire Professional dishwasher is a top performer because of its unique wash system, middle and upper spray arms, and handy wash options.
Noise Level
I usually recommend a dishwasher with a sound level of 52 dB or less, and this Frigidaire Professional model sits below this at 47 dB. The dishwasher works quietly; you can barely hear it while it’s running. In fact, if it weren’t for the floor beam, you’d hardly notice that it’s even on.
Most owners praise this dishwasher for its silence, which is a major feature that I look out for in a dishwasher.
Pros and Cons of the Frigidaire Professional Dishwasher
The Good
- It runs quietly and is barely noticeable when working.
- This dishwasher has a stylish stainless steel exterior.
- You get enough room inside for organizing your dishes.
- The OrbitClean Wash Systems ensures that water reaches every corner of the tub.
- There are seven wash cycles for different washing scenarios.
- It has excellent washing and drying performance.
- This dishwasher is energy efficient.
The Bad
- It has no smart features despite costing over $1000.
- The Air Dry option isn’t as effective as heated drying.
- The rack rollers feel like they’re of low quality.
What to Consider Before Buying a Dishwasher
As you think about buying the Frigidaire Professional dishwasher, there are a few things you should consider to help you make a decision.
Your Budget
The Frigidaire Professional 24” dishwasher’s MSRP price is $1200, but you can get it for as low as $900 in some retail outlets. If your budget is less than $1000, then you might want to consider a different model. Dare I suggest one of the alternative brands I’ve shared later in this article?
Performance
A dishwasher’s job is to, well, wash dishes. So, you want one that does its job well. Thankfully, the Frigidaire Professional dishwasher does a great job at cleaning dishes. There are few (if any) instances of food particles left on the plates.
Features like the number of spray arms, place settings, and wash cycles, are a good place to start when trying to figure out the dishwasher’s performance.
Style
Try and choose a dishwasher with a style that matches your other appliances for a uniform look. Of course, this isn’t necessary, but if you want an appealing kitchen aesthetic, then I strongly recommend this.
If you have other stainless steel appliances, the Frigidaire Professional dishwasher will fit in among them.
Tub Material
Lower-priced dishwashers have plastic tubs – Frigidaire uses a durable polymer in theirs. If you’re on a tight budget, then these might be the dishwashers for you, but remember that they’re not as durable as models with stainless steel tubs.
Stainless steel can withstand higher temperatures, allowing the dishwasher to use hotter water and get better results. Find out more about the different tub materials here.
Smart Features
Smart features enable remote monitoring and operation of the dishwasher. If you want the convenience of operating your dishwasher via your smartphone and getting notifications when the cycle ends, consider a model with smart features.
Sadly, the Frigidaire Professional dishwasher doesn’t have this.
Where to Buy the Frigidaire Professional Dishwasher
You can buy the Frigidaire Professional dishwasher in a physical appliance store near you. Frigidaire has listed the retailers with this dishwasher in stock on their website.
Online stores like Amazon, Walmart, Aj Madison, and Abt also sell this dishwasher.
Alternative Dishwasher Models
1. GE® GDT645SYNFS Dishwasher
This GE dishwasher named by the company as the GDT645SYNFS model – is a perfect alternative to the Frigidaire Professional dishwasher if you prefer to spend less than $1000. In fact, this model’s retail price is about $900, but GE has a sale at the time of writing, offering an 8% discount on this model.
Despite its lower price tag, it offers a similar style to the Frigidaire model; it has a fingerprint-resistant stainless steel body with controls on the top edge of the door. However, this model has an indicator light on the front, right above the door handle.
On the downside, the GE GDT645SYNFS model only has two racks, but you still get a total of 16 place settings instead of the 14 found in the Frigidaire Professional. I love that you can buy and connect a separate adapter to get WiFi connectivity in this model. Although this isn’t in-built, at least you get the option to upgrade your appliance when you need to.
Main Features
- It has a 24.0-inch width.
- There are two racks with 16 place settings.
- It has five wash cycles.
- It has Dry Boost with Fan Assist for improved drying performance.
- There’s a hard food disposer.
- The dishwasher has steam and sanitize option.
- It has a sound level of 48 dBA.
Pros
- It’s reasonably priced.
- It has a stylish look.
- You get 16 place settings.
- It is quiet.
Cons
- There’s no third-row rack.
2. KitchenAid KDTM604KPS Dishwasher
Granted, this KitchenAid dishwasher is more expensive than the Frigidaire Professional model, but it has a number of features that I think are worth the higher price tag. For starters, the dishwasher is quieter than both the Frigidaire and the GE above, with a sound level of just 44 DBA. So, this model will remain unnoticeable even when you’re in the kitchen.
Its exterior has a stainless steel color with the company’s fingerprint-resistant finish known as PrintShield. Similar to the Frigidaire model, the controls are on the top edge of the door, but there’s a small indicator on the front of the door.
You get three racks inside, with the third-level rack able to hold mugs and glasses as well as cutlery. In total, this KitchenAid dishwasher offers 16 place settings.
Main Features
- It has a 24-inch width.
- There are five wash cycles.
- It has three racks and 16 place settings.
- The middle rack is adjustable.
- There’s a leak detection system.
- This model has soil sensors.
- It has a fan-enabled drying system.
Pros
- It has a stylish look.
- The dishwasher is very quiet.
- It’s energy and water efficient.
- The upper rack can fit more than just flatware.
Cons
- There’s no WiFi connectivity.
3. Samsung DW80R9950US/AA Dishwasher
If you thought that the other dishwashers were quiet then you’ll need to sit down for this one; it has a sound level of just 39 dBA, making it the quietest on this list. But that’s not where this dishwasher stops surprising us. At a similar price range as the Frigidaire Professional dishwasher, you get everything Frigidaire offers and more.
First, this Samsung dishwasher has in-built WiFi connectivity, allowing you to remotely operate and monitor the dishwasher via your smartphone. Then, this model comes with Samsung’s AutoRelease Door feature, which automatically opens the door at the end of a cycle so that the tub doesn’t get stuffy.
Just like the Frigidaire Professional dishwasher, this model also comes with a third-level rack. But, sadly, it’s only good for silverware. The exterior has a fingerprint-resistant stainless steel finish with a hidden-controls design. This model, however, has a pocket handle and a small display for the cycle time on the front.
Main Features
- The dishwasher has a sound level of 39 dBA.
- It has three racks and 15-place settings.
- There’s WiFi connectivity.
- It has an AutoRelease door.
- There are seven wash cycles.
- It is Energy Star certified.
